Objectives 1. Describe
how location of the brain injury impacts
signs and symptoms presented by the
patient. 2. Identify common
neurobehavioral conditions in patients
with brain injury 3. Review treatment
options available for the management of
agitation/aggression and seizures in
brain injury patients. 4. Identify
specific strategies that may be used by
families to help a brain injury survivor
adapt to the emotional/behavioral
challenges associated with his/her
injury. 5. Describe the integration
of patient safety measures into the plan
of care. 6. Describe the correlation
between location of injury and impact on
cognition and communication. 7.
Identify ways to increase the quality of
care provided by improving communication
with the brain injured patient. 8.
Incorporate one intervention identified
as significant by the speaker into
patient care.

FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE AVAILABLE
ARN offers financial assistance in the form of
two $1000 scholarships to nurses working toward
a BSN. Scholarship eligibility requirement
include:

Membership in ARN

Enrollment in a BSN program in good standing and
successful completion of at least one course
Ø
Current practice in rehab nursing
Ø
A minimum of two years experience in rehab
nursing
